Love Anais Nin, love her. I'm surprised though by the photo because from your Vox banner I had assumed you were Asian! By the way, what does Tamzen mean?
I am so glad this quote is making a connection with all of you.
When I came across it, it really hit home. See, I am in a bit of a friendship lull with my female friends. You may have heard me mention this before, but in the last 4 years, I have had 1 close friend per year move either out of the state or out of the country. And my other closest friends also live across the country. I am thankful for each of these friendships because they have opened new worlds inside me that still exist eventhough we don't seem each other anymore.
It is also exciting to think there is a potential friend out there that I will meet one day who will open a whole new world for me, but I have no idea who that person is or what that world will be right now. I am looking forward to finding out!
Haaa! That tickled me for some reason. I guess because I can see how someone would think that eventhough that was never my intention. :-) Tamzen is a nick name my mom gave me to me later in my life to "spice up" or add some mystery to my real name which is Tami. Growing up, I never felt like a "Tami" although I was pleased with the spelling my mom chose. My Dad picked the name, but my mom insisted on the spelling. I have finally (at age 41) found peace with my name, but thought it would be fun to use Tamzen for this blog. And it is very true that I am drawn to Asian culture, art, authors and all things zen. I wanted this blog to be my "zen" retreat and possibly a place of pause, inspiration, thought and joy for others who pass by as well.
